Barb to the rescue

My mother in law rocks. Yesterday I had an extremely stressful day, eventually culminating in a late postpartum hemorrhage. I'm a bleeder apparently, and I made things worse by pushing myself much much too hard after Timmy was born. My mom left Monday and I mistakenly thought I was Supergirl and returned to my usual hectic routine. Guess what that does? Oh yeah, it makes you bleed til you're woozy and look like a Somali refugee. The meds I'm taking to try to stem the problem make me feel pretty badly, and I'm a little weak and worn out as it is, so I quickly realized over the course of last night I needed some help pronto. Charlie's doing the best he can, but Red Flag starts next week and he's a key player, so his ability to nurture me and the boys and take care of house stuff is limited.

After much hesitation and guilt, I called my MIL Barb and asked if she could come early (she was coming in three weeks) and stay for awhile to help. The cost and the stress of the travel is formidable, this I know, but I'm very lucky that she said yes. My own mom can't be here and Barb is wonderful to do some mothering for me. I'm even luckier that she got a flight for tomorrow (though I'm not sure if she's on an airplane or a white horse!). She's staying for a whole month. Woo hoo! I'm so relieved...I'm so tired and ill and frustrated, I can't wait til she gets here. Connor will love it too...this will be his first concentrated grandma time in nine months and he's going to probably try to break her will to live. :-)

I'm very tired and hurting again, and the baby needs some tummy help so I better go. Yay for MILs!

Timmy Pics...again

This is my blog, and I get to post all the pics I want of my boys, so there! :-)

Timmy had his first bath other than quick swipes with a cloth after his belly button totally healed up. He thinks mommy got a little personal!

We dressed him in this uber cute Halloween outfit which he didn't think much of...

And my favorite...Connor LOVES to hold Timmy. We have to remind him he's not allowed to pick up the baby on his own. Eerily, I'm hearing myself in this myna bird of a toddler. Connor and Timmy were sitting on Charlie's lap in the recliner, and Timmy began to fuss. In exact imitation of my tone and words, Connor cooed, "I know, I know...I'm sowwy baby. It's hard to be baby!" Who needs a video camera with a kid playing you back to yourself??

Mmmmm...sleeping baby

I adore this little boy.

And how cute is this one? Connor blew out candles for Timmy's 1 week birthday. Four times, because candles are best part of cake!

Some more Timmy pictures

Here's Timmy and daddy snuggling yesterday...we put him in a brown bear suit and he was highly insulted.

Who says babies don't smile? He smiles and wiggles whenever he gets passed back to mommy for nursing and snuggles.

So we dressed him in the little bear suit and put on the matching fluffy hat. He ended up looking like Nikita Khruschev and swore vehemently in baby at mom and Nana for it. Here you can already see him plotting our demise, as soon as he gets the hang of these pesky appendages.

Presenting Timothy James!

Timothy James made his debut at 9:48 pm, 9 September, at 9 lb 3 oz and 22 inches long! It was a wonderful home water birth experience...when I get a little more rest, I'll write all about it!

No baby yet!

I love my friends. Really, compared to many people, they've been remarkably good about not asking me six bizillion times daily whether Timmy has appeared. I appreciate that, because I am uncomfortable and impatient enough! Does anyone really think I won't be dancing outside with fresh baby in my arms screaming to the cosmos that he actually decided to be born?

But no, no baby yet. Which is okay. Not wonderful, I would definitely like to be cuddling all three of my boys in bed right now, but I can put up with a few extra days if it means the next atomic superman will make his debut as fully ready as we want him to be. I'm sore. I'm tired. Connor's got a minor sniffle that is just annoying enough to have him coughing and sniffing in my hair and up a lot at night. I've got a hitch in my gitalong that makes it darn uncomfortable to get up five times at night to go to the bathroom. But hey, as I've said many times, you have to really hate late pregnancy or labor wouldn't sound so good.

We got our birth tub on Thursday. Nice and big and I'm excited about trying it. Connor's excited because the temperature gauge is a floating duck. It's a luxury to rent it ($25 plus hose and accessories - no, Jen, not a typo LOL...I thought it was a good deal too!), but our base house tubs look like coffins...narrow and fill with about a tsp of water...not exactly what I want to labor in! The tub is pretty big but Charlie thinks it will fit fine in our bedroom so I can get straight into bed if I like afterward without climbing stairs. When we're out today we need to get a couple things for it and we'll be good to go!

Hopefully by next week we'll have some "Ta da!" Timmy pics to show off. In the meantime you'll just have to read my complaints and whatnot! Here's Connor's new favorite song/video for your viewing pleasure. I warn you, if you're not 2.5 or high, you may think it...aheam...a little strange.
